Then\, in light of all the book banning and burning going on in libraries around the country\, PDL Director Valerie Meyerson will be discuss the public library collection maintenance process and the freedom to read.

DESCRIPTION:On April 7\, we welcome our very own Laura Taylor.  Laura is currently working on her doctorate in nursing. Her topic will be :Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders: perinatal PTSD and traumatic childbirth \nWe will discuss the power of birth and psychological sequelae from trauma and traumatic childbirth that can place the mother at risk for perinatal PTSD. A broad understanding of traumatic childbirth and PTSD will be presented. This discussion will bring people together to discuss this phenomenon and how we as women can help empower those that have experienced traumatic childbirth and diagnosed with perinatal PTSD.

She is an Afghanistan veteran (OEF 2010)\, a coffee enthusiast\, a fervent bicyclist\, and she currently lives in Petoskey\, Michigan. We will watch a video entitled “Transcending Gender” and then Samara\, a transgender woman\, will be speaking on transgender issues and answering questions.

The Safe Home’s greatest need is supermarket/grocery/gas gift cards and financial contributions of all amounts so that we have the flexibility to act immediately to each of our client’s unique situations as they arise. \nGift Cards Gift cards are most helpful in responding to current shelter needs and give staff the opportunity to purchase perishable items such as milk\, eggs and bread. Consider a gift card to Meijer\, Walmart\, Oleson’s Food Stores\, D&W Fresh Market\, Dollar General\, major gas stations\, cell phone gift cards or VISA gift cards. \nFinancial Contributions Financial contributions are another great option\, made by check or online at wrcnm.org\, then click on the “GIVE” button. In-Kind Donations \nThese are the most needed items that help the Safe Home feel like ‘home’:\n• Coffee/Creamer\n• Boxed/Canned Meals\n• Cake/Brownie/Cookie Mixes\n• Baking Needs – Cooking Oil\, Sugar\, etc.\n• Paper Towel/Kleenex\n• Laundry Detergent\n• Hand/Dish Soap\n• Women’s Socks/Undergarments (new/in package) \nDonations to the Harvest Food and Supply Drive are a meaningful way for community members and groups to make a difference in the lives of domestic abuse survivors and their children utilizing Safe Home services. The annual drive brings in a significant amount of the food and supplies provided to families at the shelter from Antrim\, Charlevoix\, Cheboygan\, Emmet and Otsego counties.

DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS HERE \nZonta Club of Petoskey invites you to our 49th annual Fashion Show on Saturday\, November 6\, 2021 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. and we will celebrate Zonta Club of Petoskey’s 50th anniversary on this date as well.  \nThere will be a live\, in-person reception on Saturday\, November 6 starting at 12 noon in the Rose Room at the Perry Hotel.  There will be live music\, a cash bar\, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. At 1 p.m. we will show a video produced by Scott Castelein of fall fashions from area retailers. Tickets for this event are limited to 100 and will cost $50 per person. \n  \nAt the end of the event\, there will be a drawing for gift baskets\, and for a diamond piece donated by Arlington Jewelers. All ticket holders are eligible to win the diamond.
