SUMMARY:Program Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The next  business meeting for Zonta Club of Petoskey will be on Thursday\, March 21 at noon in the Westminster Room of First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey.  Please make every effort to attend.   This is a brown bag lunch. \nOur program lunch will be on Thursday\, April 4 at noon at First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey\, Westminster Room.  Our speaker will be Val Meyerson\, from the Petoskey District Library.  Val will be speaking about the Anti-Defamation League and the impact of hate on our community.\nValerie Meyerson\, director of the Petoskey District Library\, received her BS in Business from University of Colorado and her MLIS from Wayne State University. She has more than thirty years of experience as a library director under her belt. Val also serves as a Regional Board member for the Anti-Defamation League\, an organization that’s mission is “to stop the defamation of the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment to all.” Val has a strong commitment to the community and this can be seen through her volunteer work as the immediate past president of Sunrise Rotary and the current president of Temple BNai Israel. \nWhen not volunteering or working\, Val can most likely be found at her home in Petoskey reading or playing bridge.  She loves biking in the summer and skiing in the winter and always looks forward to visiting her two children\, Jeremiah and Chashah\, both  successfully launched from the University of Michigan. Currently Val is reading Iron Flame\, by Rebecca Yarros. \nApril 18 – Business meeting.  Noon. SUMMARY:Program Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Our speakers for March 7 will be Mary Beauchamp and Mary Hohlbein from the Petoskey District Library. They will be talking about the Human Library\, coming to the Carnegie Building on August 3. \nThe Human Library® is\, in the true sense of the word\, a library of people. We host events where readers can borrow human beings serving as open books and have conversations they would not normally have access to. Every human book from our bookshelf represents a group in our society that is often subjected to prejudice\, stigmatization or discrimination because of their lifestyle\, diagnosis\, belief\, disability\, social status\, or ethnic origin. \nMary Beauchamp serves as the Collection Development Librarian for Petoskey District Library and has been with the library since 2014. She loves the impact libraries have on shaping minds and building bridges within communities. \nMary Hohlbein has been a Library Assistant at PDL for 5 years\, before which she worked in the Mackinaw Library system for 8 years. She loves the library for bringing people from all walks of life together and lifting them all up with access to information.

SUMMARY:Program Meeting
DESCRIPTION:SEPTEMBER PROGRAM MEETING\nOn Thursday\, September 7\, Zonta Club of Petoskey welcomes Tammy Jo Remsberg. Tammy Jo  is a 62 year old woman defying age stereotypes and embracing life with vigor. “As a mother of three and a cherished grandmother of two\, I have been blessed. But it has been a struggle… \nMy path has been marked by challenges\, being diagnosed with lupus and several other autoimmune conditions\, I had to dig deep to not let these health battles define me. Instead\, I focused on harnessing my inner strength to offer hope for others facing similar struggles. \nFor the past eight years\, I have found my  passion in powerlifting. With unparalleled dedication and hard work\, I’ve earned multiple state and national titles\, proving that age and health obstacles are no match for an indomitable spirit. This journey into powerlifting mirrors my approach to life – facing challenges head-on\, breaking barriers\, and emerging victorious. \nMy hope in sharing my story and insights on resilience\, empowerment\, and the unbreakable human spirit. I pray it serves as a reminder that adversity can be transformed into strength and that every setback can be a stepping stone toward greatness.” \nPlease join us at this powerful program at noon on September 7. \n

Meagan is a practicing Human Resource Professional with a love for inspiring humans\, on and off the yoga mat. Our meeting will be in the Westminster Room at First Presbyterian Church of Petoskey. \nMeagan began cultivating and nourishing her dream and with a whole lot of braVe she eventually landed on three powerful words\, Inspiring Inner Growth. SUMMARY:Fellowship Event: Steel Magnolias showing
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Zonta night out on Thursday\, May 11 at 7 PM for an evening showing of Little Traverse Civic Theater’s “Steel Magnolias” at Crooked Tree Arts Center. Tickets are $20 https://www.ltct.org/season-events – Let Sherry know if you can join us so we can get seats close to each other 🙂 \nThe action is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin\, Louisiana\, where all the ladies who are “anybody” come to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant\, Annelle (who is not sure whether or not she is still married)\, the outspoken\, wise-cracking Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to the town’s rich curmudgeon\, Ouiser\, (“I’m not crazy\, I’ve just been in a bad mood for forty years”); an eccentric millionaire\, Miss Clairee\, who has a raging sweet tooth; and the local social leader\, M’Lynn\, whose daughter\, Shelby (the prettiest girl in town)\, is about to marry a “good ole boy.” Filled with hilarious repartee and not a few acerbic but humorously revealing verbal collisions\, the play moves toward tragedy when\, in the second act\, the spunky Shelby (who is a diabetic) risks pregnancy and forfeits her life. The sudden realization of their mortality affects the others\, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which gives the play\, and its characters\, the special quality to make them truly touching\, funny\, and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad.
