HUNT (she/her) is the author of the Malus Domestica horror-action series from Tor Books\, which begins with Burn the Dark. In 2014\, Samara won Reddit’s /r/Fantasy “Independent Novel of the Year” Stabby Award for her Outlaw King fantasy gunslinger series. She is an Afghanistan veteran (OEF 2010)\, a coffee enthusiast\, a fervent bicyclist\, and she currently lives in Petoskey\, Michigan. We will watch a video entitled “Transcending Gender” and then Samara\, a transgender woman\, will be speaking on transgender issues and answering questions.

DESCRIPTION:Please bring your donations on Thursday\, November 18 for the annual Harvest Food and Supply Drive supporting the Safe Home needs.  Kim Phelps will be getting a fact sheet on needs\, but in the meantime\, here are some suggestions: \nSafe Home Needs Community members often ask how they can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those utilizing Safe Home services. The Safe Home’s greatest need is supermarket/grocery/gas gift cards and financial contributions of all amounts so that we have the flexibility to act immediately to each of our client’s unique situations as they arise. \nGift Cards Gift cards are most helpful in responding to current shelter needs and give staff the opportunity to purchase perishable items such as milk\, eggs and bread. Consider a gift card to Meijer\, Walmart\, Oleson’s Food Stores\, D&W Fresh Market\, Dollar General\, major gas stations\, cell phone gift cards or VISA gift cards. \nFinancial Contributions Financial contributions are another great option\, made by check or online at wrcnm.org\, then click on the “GIVE” button. In-Kind Donations \nThese are the most needed items that help the Safe Home feel like ‘home’:\n• Coffee/Creamer\n• Boxed/Canned Meals\n• Cake/Brownie/Cookie Mixes\n• Baking Needs – Cooking Oil\, Sugar\, etc.\n• Paper Towel/Kleenex\n• Laundry Detergent\n• Hand/Dish Soap\n• Women’s Socks/Undergarments (new/in package) \nDonations to the Harvest Food and Supply Drive are a meaningful way for community members and groups to make a difference in the lives of domestic abuse survivors and their children utilizing Safe Home services. The annual drive brings in a significant amount of the food and supplies provided to families at the shelter from Antrim\, Charlevoix\, Cheboygan\, Emmet and Otsego counties.

SUMMARY:Zonta Club of Petoskey Announces 49th Annual Fashion Show
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS HERE \nZonta Club of Petoskey invites you to our 49th annual Fashion Show on Saturday\, November 6\, 2021 from 12 p.m. – 2 p.m. and we will celebrate Zonta Club of Petoskey’s 50th anniversary on this date as well.  \nThere will be a live\, in-person reception on Saturday\, November 6 starting at 12 noon in the Rose Room at the Perry Hotel.  There will be live music\, a cash bar\, and heavy hors d’oeuvres. At 1 p.m. we will show a video produced by Scott Castelein of fall fashions from area retailers. Tickets for this event are limited to 100 and will cost $50 per person. \n  \nAt the end of the event\, there will be a drawing for gift baskets\, and for a diamond piece donated by Arlington Jewelers. All ticket holders are eligible to win the diamond. Gift basket raffle tickets are available by contacting a Zonta Club of Petoskey member\, or emailing shawncordesosborne.manager@gmail.com. \n  \nTickets to either event can be purchased by going to www.zontapetoskey.com and clicking on “Buy Tickets Now” button. Checks can also be made payable to Zonta Club of Petoskey and mailed to Zonta Fashion Show\, 807 Howard Street\, Petoskey\, MI 49770. \n  \nZonta Club of Petoskey uses the funds raised at the fashion show to provide supporting grants to area organizations that help women and girls in our area\, including a $2\,500 scholarship to NCMC for area women seeking to re-enter the workforce\, $1000 scholarship to an area high school girl\, remodeling a room in the SAFE House and much more.
