Program Meeting
March 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Our speakers for March 7 will be Mary Beauchamp and Mary Hohlbein from the Petoskey District Library. They will be talking about the Human Library, coming to the Carnegie Building on August 3.
The Human Library® is, in the true sense of the word, a library of people. We host events where readers can borrow human beings serving as open books and have conversations they would not normally have access to. Every human book from our bookshelf represents a group in our society that is often subjected to prejudice, stigmatization or discrimination because of their lifestyle, diagnosis, belief, disability, social status, or ethnic origin.
Mary Beauchamp serves as the Collection Development Librarian for Petoskey District Library and has been with the library since 2014. She loves the impact libraries have on shaping minds and building bridges within communities.
Mary Hohlbein has been a Library Assistant at PDL for 5 years, before which she worked in the Mackinaw Library system for 8 years. She loves the library for bringing people from all walks of life together and lifting them all up with access to information.
